French Highlights on the Show

Renault

.
Renault unveiled a major new generation of Clio V6 in a world premiere at the 2002 Paris Motor Show. The latest concept car Ellypse is on display alongside Kangoo Break'up, a concept car based on Kangoo 4x4. The stars of the show are Mégane II Hatch and Sport Hatch, paving the way for a complete renewal of the Renault C-segment line, while Espace IV extends Renault's top of the range.

This year's Paris Motor Show also sees a new Twingo collection and an all-new 2.0 T engine plus a 2.2 dCi unit teamed with automatic transmission on Laguna II. The Vel Satis brand ambassador also gets a fuller range of safety and comfort equipment.

Launched in 1984 and with over 870,000 vehicles produced to date through a partnership between Matra Automobile and Renault, Espace embodied a new relationship with the automobile right from the start. Espace IV has inherited the expertise displayed in Vel Satis and offers a new combination of MPV values and the driving pleasure of a saloon. It's even more adaptable, with customized comfort, an uncompromising level of safety and an ergonomically designed cockpit .

Peugeot

The Paris Motor Show gave Peugeot the opportunity to display its creativity in design with new concept cars following the presentation of the new 206 SW, 307 SW and 807 at Geneva, and the eye-catching RC Spades and Diamonds.

The Concept Car Prométhée was introduced at the Paris Motor Show 2000. It became, by virtue of its styling, the true pioneer of the 307. This was confirmed in May 2001 by the launch of the 307 hatchback range, followed one year later by the appearance of a new shape in the form of both SW and Estate versions. Today sees the presentation of the concept car 3.7 cc which offers a true Coupé, a real Cabriolet and a vehicle with four standard-size seats, taking its place alongside the existing 307 models.

The fire engine christened H2O is two vehicles in one: a demonstrator showing fuel cell technology and a concept vehicle for fire fighting, which can be used for reconnaissance in urban areas which are difficult for large vehicles to access.

Sésame is a vehicle in the B segment, at some 3.70 m long. The focal aspect is two sliding side doors around which the structure takes shape. Truly versatile, it is suitable for driving around town and out on the main roads or motorways; it boasts four individual seats which have extremely easy access. This car with an ultra short bonnet has a glass roof finished with two metal roof bars at the edges. The glass area is extensive and there is a generous-sized windscreen. The design, with its dynamic front, is similar to the most recent Peugeot vehicles.

Citroen

With the C3 Pluriel, Citroën has taken a huge step forward in the quest for the ideal car : o able to satisfy user needs and requirements on a day-to-day basis, o adapting at will, o reflecting a leisure-oriented lifestyle. The C3 Pluriel offers a host of body configurations on a single C3.

With C-Airdream, a 2+2 coupé concept car, Citroën continues to explore the language of styling. Flowing lines, clean contours, sophisticated materials and plays of light take passengers on a journey through the senses.

A harmony of slender proportions and fluid lines with an underlying promise of power, C-Airdream expresses Citroën's vision of sporting coupé design. The contemporary edge of Citroën's design values can also be seen in the interior of C-Airdream. Sculptured lines, contrasting colours, noble materials and plays of light create a harmonious whole with immediate appeal.
