German Highlights
in Paris |

The luxury brand Maybach unveiled two high- end
saloons in Paris: the Maybach 62 - which already made its world
debut in New York in early July - and the Maybach 57, which is
being presented for the first time.
The model badges denote the respective vehicle lenghts: 6.17
metres in the case of the Maybach 62 and 5.73 in the case of the
Maybach 57.
A masterpiece of automotive engineering which was specifically
developed for the Maybach is the "Type 12" engine (405
kW/550 hp), which delivers more power and torque than any other
standard-production saloon car engine in the world. |

Porsche unveiled its third model line, the Cayenne sport utility
vehicle which in 2003
will join Porsche's current lineup that includes the Boxster and the
legendary 911 Carrera.
Both the Cayenne S and the Cayenne Turbo feature an all-new
Porsche-designed 4.5-liter V-8 engine that will be built in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen,
Germany, as well as permanent four-wheel drive. Porsche innovations such
as the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Traction
Management (PTM), and the Porsche Stability Management (PSM) systems and a
six-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission will help both Cayenne models
deliver excellent on- and off-pavement driving qualities.. |

The new BMW Z4 is having its world
premiere here in Paris. This new Roadster adheres to a long company
tradition which began way back in 1936 with the launching of the BMW
328, and continued with the BMW 507, leading us right up to the BMW
Z1 and BMW Z3. The roadster segment is the one in which BMW brand
characteristics become most evident. Rarely has any other vehicle
type influenced the BMW profile so decisively and as often as the
Roadster has. Now the BMW Z4 is BMW's new embodiment of the open
two-seater, representing at the same time the sporting side of our
new design language. |

Audi S4 Avant |
|

|
Audi
is unveiling the top sports model in the A4 range. The further
developed V8 engine with chain located at the rear and with a swept
volume of 4.2 litres produces 253 kW/344 bhp and 410 Newton metres
of torque. The
new S4 is the only car in its class to have quattro permanent
all-wheel drive. It can thus always optimally convert its power
output into propulsive power and create a new dimension of
superiority in practice for the dynamic potential of its aluminium
chassis. In other words: driving pleasure in the purest sense, on
the motorway as well as on demanding passes. |

The Touareg luxury off-road

the Paris Motor Show. The Touareg is due to be

a 162 kW (220 bhp) V6 spark-ignition engine or a V10 TDI diesel
developing 230 kW (313 bhp). the Touareg V6 with six-speed automatic
transmission will be sold at 41,350 Euro. The V6 will later be
available with a manual gearbox, and also with a new five-cylinder
TDI or a new V8 spark-ignition engine. All Touaregs have 4XMOTION
permanent all-wheel drive and a six-speed gearbox (with the V10 TDI
engine automatic transmission is standard). |

crossblade

roadster
|
With the launch of the smart roadster and smart
roadster-coupé in April 2003 the segment of the compact and purist
roadster is being revived. With an engine output of around 60 kW and
a weight of around just 790 kilogrammes, at 13.2 kilogrammes per
kilowatt (9.6 kg per bhp) the smart roadster offers a power/weight
ratio which is low compared with that of its competitors.
