Chrysler Unveils Yet Another Segment Buster -- 2002 Pacifica Concept Vehicle
Chrysler Pacifica Photo: Automotive Intelligence Detroit - Hot on the heels of introducing the PT Cruiser and Crossfire sports coupe, Chrysler introduced yet another segment buster at the 2002 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Chrysler announced that its all-new 2002 Pacifica concept vehicle will become reality next year. "The Chrysler Pacifica cannot be binned in any existing automotive category; it's an all-new segment that will follow the success of our original minivan and PT Cruiser," said Dieter Zetsche, President and CEO of the Chrysler Group. "Chrysler Pacifica is a sports tourer with the right formula of proportions, packaging, performance and appearance that will set it far apart from our competition. With its low step-in height, first-class seating, three rows of seats and car-like handling, there is nothing else like it in the marketplace." Chrysler Pacifica will join the ranks of Chrysler's 1983 minivan and 2001 PT Cruiser as yet another segment buster from the company that has reshaped the automotive landscape time and time again. Chrysler will unveil a production version of the Chrysler Pacifica later this year. Production for Chrysler Pacifica will begin early 2003 as a 2004 model. "In addition to unique packaging and proportions, the Chrysler Pacifica concept comes well-equipped," said Richard Schaum, Executive Vice President, Product Development and Quality and General Manager of Passenger Car Operations. "We've loaded the vehicle with our 3.5-litre engine, all-wheel drive and adjustable pedals. We've included an integrated in-dash navigation system, hands-free communication and our industry-first power liftgate. And in terms of safety, we've included side curtain air bags in all three rows, a tyre pressure monitoring system and four-wheel anti-lock brakes." Following are "at-a-glance" features offered in 2002 Chrysler Pacifica concept:
