07, 2001 Renault and Nissan's combined automobile sales totalled 5 million Renault and Nissan announced that the two companies sold a combined 5 million automobiles in 2000 (CY). Nissan sold 2.6 million while the Renault group sold 2.4 million. The Alliance's share of the world market came to more than 8,9% (4.2% for the Renault group and 4,7% for Nissan) positioning the Alliance amongst the world's top six leading manufacturers. Included in the total Renault-Nissan Alliance sales, Renault sold 50,133 vehicles under the Dacia brand and more than 12,300 under the Samsung brand in 2000 and Nissan sold 82,691 vehicles under the Infiniti brand in the U.S. and Canada. On a regional basis, The Renault-Nissan Alliance sold 2.4 million vehicles in Western Europe in 2000 (including 821,048 in France, 296,364 in Germany, 296,719 in Spain, 252,259 in Italy and 264,472 in the UK), 974 thousand in North America (including 752,088 in the United States and 47,404 in Canada and 173,066 in Mexico), 732 thousand in Japan and 131 thousand in the Mercosur (including 56,819 in Brazil and 59,781 in Argentina).
