| Auburn Hills, Mich., Dec. 22, 1999 - DaimlerChrysler Corporation will
record its best ever U.S. sales year for Chrysler, Plymouth, Jeep® and Dodge in 1999,
already surpassing its 1998 record sales results. With nine selling days remaining in
1999, DaimlerChrysler Corporation has sold 2,538,384 vehicles in the U.S. through December
20. The previous record sales year was 1998, with a total of 2,510,011 vehicles
sold."We're proud to have already done so well during such a highly competitive time
in the automotive industry," said Theodor R. Cunningham, Executive Vice President,
Sales and Marketing. "We have every intention of continuing this trend through 2000
with a very exciting product combination of proven performers and highly anticipated
newcomers." The 1999 calendar year will be another record-breaking year for
DaimlerChrysler's sport-utility vehicles. Year-to-date sales of the Dodge Durango, Jeep
Grand Cherokee, Cherokee and Wrangler were 714,846, nearly 100,000 units above last year's
sport-utility record of 616,217. Jeep brand vehicles enjoyed a phenomenal sales year. The
1996 Jeep record of 509,183 units was surpassed by the end of November this year.
Including December sales-to-date, 532,871 Jeep vehicles were sold thus far in 1999.

Sport-utility vehicles, including the Dodge Durango, Jeep® Grand Cherokee, Cherokee
and Wrangler, sold 714,846 units already in 1999, nearly 100,000 units above last year's
sport-utility record of 616,217.
Behind the strength of the Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge minivans, Dodge Durango and Ram
Pickup, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee and Wrangler, a new record of 1,815,787 was set in
the Corporation's Truck category, bettering the 1998 record of 1,770,794.
Jeep brand sold 532,871 vehicles so far this year, beating the 1996
record of 509,183 units.
Jeep Grand Cherokee sold a total of 288,147 units so far this year.
The previous record was set in 1996 at 279,195.
Jeep Wrangler outperformed all other small SUV's and its 1998 record
with sales of 86,210 units thus far.
Dodge Durango was a stellar performer at 181,975 vehicles, beating
last year's record of 156,923.
Dodge Ram Pickup continues to draw a loyal following with sales of
411,261 units as of Dec. 20, surpassing the 1998 record of 410,130 units.
Chrysler 300M, in its first full year of sales, set a record at 54,119
units.
Plymouth Prowler sold 2,247 units, beating the 1998 record of 1,594.
